JUTC to Provide Shuttle Service to Opening Ceremony of CWC 2007

Persons who want to avoid the hassle of driving to the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium for the opening ceremony of Cricket World Cup (CWC) on March 11, will be able to use the shuttle service from Kingston being provided by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC).

“We started receiving calls from persons wanting to know if we were going to offer a shuttle to the opening ceremony.so our working committee in house sat down to see if we would have the capacity to do that and we realized that we did,” Marketing and Public Relations Manager of the JUTC, Gwyneth Davidson told JIS News.

Judging from the level of interest, she anticipates that the JUTC will send the very least, one bus, which has a seating capacity of 53. “It is absolutely going to be based on demand,” she noted.

Arrangements are currently being made to distribute the tickets. These include establishing two ticket locations – one in Portmore and the other in the New Kingston area.

In the meantime, if persons want to pre-book they can call the JUTC at 749-2078 or e-mail the JUTC at Gdavidson@jutc.com.jm.

“We are ready to take the pre-bookings and we believe, based on some tours that we did last time, that the tickets will be in demand very close to the time, so if you are really interested to go, booking early will be wise,” she advised.

In terms of what persons can expect from the service, Mrs. Davidson said it would be top of the line, as the JUTC would be using its premium service. “We have totally air conditioned buses, reclining seats, head rest, carpeted floor and storage area. We will have a hostess onboard and our clients will be able to receive bottled water to keep them refreshed going into the venue,” she disclosed.
