Plans for the 2009 staging of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues festival is already in the final stages. The Festival, which over the years have gained the reputation of being the premier event on the Caribbean’s entertainment calendar will continue to feature world class musicians and entertainers some overseas and locally. Montego Bay will come alive from January 22-24, 2009 and the show will be headlined by Lionel Richie, with British songstress Estelle as one of the more anticipated acts billed for the show. Other musicians and entertainers expected to perform are Atlantic Star, Robin Thicke, Chicago, Shaggy, Lou Gramm, Maxi Priest and many others.
Formerly the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival the festivial has been rebranded and is now call the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival under the tutilage and sponsorship of the Jamaica Tourist Board, with Air Jamaica introduced as the presenting sponsor. Around 50,000 locals and overseas guests are expected to attend the 3 day event.
