Jamaica Festival Song Competition 2008

The JCDC annual popular song contest has returned to it’s roots this year and has been rightfully renamed the Jamaica Festival Song Competition again after a 10 year hiatus. The 10 finalists have been chosen and their songs have been playing across the airwaves for weeks.

A series of “Street Blocker” tours are being staged across the island which will lead up to the finals at the National Arena on July 12th 2008. Samples of the 10 different songs can be heard on the JCDC website, the songs and finalists are:

Lynford McIntosh – “Country Life”
Michael Rutherford – “Old Time Festival”
DJ Speng – “Sweet Jamaica”
The Astronauts – “Banjo Man”
Versatile – “We Need Love”
Roy Rayon – “Rise and Shine”
Clevon Edwards – “We Need Love”
Danny Brasko & Lya Simba – “Festival Time Again”
Zetto – “Naw Lef Jamaica”
Monty Montgomery – “My Jamaica”

The Astronauts and Roy Rayon have previously won the festival competition. Please go out and support the finalists at the National Arena on July 12th 2008!
