Denbigh Agri-Industrial Show 2009

The 2008 staging of the Denbigh Agri-Industrial Show was a success and so the Jamaica Agricultural Society are aiming to bring it up a notch in 2009. Denbigh 2009 will run from Friday July 31st to Sunday August 2nd with the Governor General Dr. Patrick Allen, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Dr. Christopher Tufton and the Prime Minister Bruce Golding being the main speakers on each respective day.

Theme and Cost

The theme for the show remains the same as 2008, ‘Grow What We Eat, Eat What We Grow’ and the advertising tagline is “it will be fine at Denbigh 2009”. The organizers are targeting 100,000 patrons to the event and another 40,000 from overseas – mainly the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and the wider Caribbean region. The entry fee remains the same as in 2008 with adults paying $600 and children $300, daily.

Highlights and Activities

Many highlights are planned for the Denbigh Agri-Industrial Show this year such as, Educational and Investment Seminars, Farmers Talent Parade, Youth in Agriculture, National Farm Queen Coronation Show, celebrity cook-off, nightly entertainment, farmers market, tourism village, Jamaica walk, kiddies village, Denbigh 2009 magazine, Vale Royal booth, King’s House booth, horse jumping and the ever popular Parish Pavilion displays.
