Bangladesh wishes to Strengthen ties with Jamaica

President Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed says that Bangladesh is keen to strengthen ties with Jamaica through economic relations and more people-to-people contact.

The President made this announcement as the newly appointed High Commissioner of Jamaica, Wayne St. John McCook, presented his credentials while visiting President’s residence, Bangabhaban in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

“Bangladesh and Jamaica enjoy close bonds of friendship and understanding based on their shared values of democracy, respect for human rights and commitment to world peace,” the president said.

Bangladesh, officially the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, is a country in South Asia. It is surrounded by India on all sides except for a small border with Myanmar to the far southeast and the Bay of Bengal to the south. Together with the Indian state of West Bengal, it makes up the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal.
