Volunteers Refurbish Port Royal Primary and Infant School

Science, Technology, Energy and Mining Minister, Hon. Phillip Paulwell, and Director General, Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ), Dr. Gladstone Hutchinson, headed a large group of volunteers who, on Wednesday (May 23), undertook refurbishing of the Port Royal Primary and Infant School. The school was selected by the PIOJ as its major project for Labour Day 2012. They were joined by South Korea’s Ambassador to Jamaica, His Excellency Kimo Lim, along with representatives of the embassy in Jamaica, the Korea/Jamaica Association, the International Youth Fellowship (IYF), and staff of the PIOJ. National Heroes Park to be cleaned on Labour Day

Cleaning and beautifying Jamaica’s heritage centrepiece, the National Heroes Park, in Kingston, is this year’s designated national project for Labour Day, to be observed on May 23. This will be complemented by various parish projects, which will also be earmarked for general cleaning up and beautification on that day, under the theme for Labour Day and Workers’ Week (May 20 to 26): ‘Step Forward…Make Jamaica Beautiful’. Nominations Smooth and Violence Free

THE Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) will today indicate whether the final count of candidates for the upcoming General Election who were appointed during yesterday's Nomination Day exercise remains at the 150 announced initially. Shortly after the close of Nomination Day activities yesterday, the EOJ signalled that a total 150 candidates were nominated to contest the General Election scheduled for December 29.
