National Heroes Park is one of the most important sites in Jamaica. It is a botanical garden that features numerous monuments, and is the burial site of many of Jamaica’s National Heroes, Prime Ministers, and cultural leaders. It is also the largest open space anywhere n Kingston.
The Marcus Garvey Shrine is a popular location within the park
Plans are underway to give National Heroes Park a well needed makeover by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) – the state owned entity responsible for the disposal of waste island-wide as well as the maintenance of many others parks, state open spaces under contract.
The park is being renovated with the aim of attracting locals to it’s facilities especially children so that they may learn about Jamaica history. Tourists and other interest groups are also expected to flock to the park
