Jamaica/Colombia financial co-operation

Jamaica is to co-operate with Columbia in the exchange of financial intelligence, related to money laundering and terrorist financing, Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, has disclosed. This follows Cabinet’s approval of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Financial Information and Analysis Unit of Colombia and the Government of Jamaica, through the Financial Investigations Division of the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service.

Speaking at a Post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House on Wednesday, (November 24), Mr. Vaz noted that the MoU is part of Jamaica’s strategy to strengthen bilateral co-operation in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, and to establish flexible and effective strategies to exchange information and boost institutional capabilities.
